About
Who writes this, and what runs it.
I am Gerben . Dutch, twenty years in infrastructure and development, and I run a small company doing hosting, CI/CD consultancy, and software built to order.
Most of what I write is Go as I like typed languages. I start at 100 % test coverage rather than aiming for it, which sounds dogmatic until your untested software catches fire at three in the morning.
I self-host more than is strictly reasonable, including this blog. Owning the whole stack means that when something breaks, it is mine to fix. That is the point, most days.
Away from work it is usually radios and hardware. IoT, Software-defined radio, ADS-B, old ThinkPads, RPi’s, and trying to not scratch the uConsole that mostly lives in my bag. A lot of what ends up here starts as me wanting to know how something actually works.
